North Dakota

We are in North Dakota now and Dick is already working in the fields. I am getting the motorhome set up and making plans to fly back home. I will work until he is ready to come home after the harvest and hunting and then I will fly back and drive home - I am sure the scenery will be completed different - I am anticipating alot of snow on the ground.

We took Cali to the kennel where her parents are - it is amazing how much she is like her mom and one of her sisters. The mom, dad, 2 brothers and 2 sisters are here being trained. One of them has been away like Cali but back for a couple of weeks - the others are amazing how ready they are for the field. Cali has all of the potential but she is a little wild so Paul will be working with her for a couple of weeks - he thinks thats all she will need and then for Dick to continue working with her. They have a process they use called "the box" they use these boxes to have the dogs come to instead of just coming to a person. It is amazing how this man can get the dogs to just sit there and not even move when he throws a bird. I am hoping we can Cali to that point.

Wyoming/South Dakota continued

as you can see it just continues to be a great trip. This is the perfect time to travel across the states -

Provo Canyon, Lake Utah, Fort Bridger & No Platte River

We drove through Provo Canyon and missed the vibrant colors by a few days - there is still color but not like last year and believe it or not we came home at the same time last year as we are going to North Dakota this year. An original name - Lake Utah was awesome - the water didn't have a ripple on it and Dick said "where is our boat?" We spent the night in Lyman, WY and then back tracked a little to visit Fort Bridger - it was very interesting part of history. There was a gentlemen there that gave us an explanation of what went on at the fort. Not too flattering for Brigham Young. As we proceeded towards Casper, WY we came upon another lake in the middle of no where and then the North Platte River.
Casper Wyoming is busy and not as nice as some of the other towns in Wyoming so no worries about having to move there. Tomorrow we will continue our journey stopping at some historical sites we have missed on other trips to and from North Dakota. One will be Devils tower monument which President Roosevelt deemed the first national mounument.

You can tell I did the pictures in reverse - the last picture is Provo Canyon and works it way to the North Platte River. They had drift boats on the river - what fun that would have been to do some drift fishing.

Fall 2010 trip

Well we are on the road again - just finished our 9th Relay for Life in Santa Fe Springs and left early Saturday morning for North Dakota. Dick will be working with his cousins again and I am driving with him and then flying home - when he is done I will fly back and drive home with him.

We stopped in Hurricane, Utah to look around for a place to retire to -found some interesting places but not sure if it is the right spot. Although I do like the idea of being close to golf, water sports and hunting for Dick and of course there is Mesquite, NV and the slot machines. We did make a short stop and had fun - broke even after having lunch.

We drove to Zion - it is a beautiful park with the red rock canyons - we couldn't take the bus tour because we had Cali but what we saw was pretty. We left there and took a scenic byway and saw the most amazing fall colors - a great lake for fishing that was surrounded by fall colors. Took a jeep road that the boys would enjoy on their motorcylcles.

Grapevine, Texas

We are now in a new campground and it is amazing. It has trees and a lake. It is set up alot like Nacimento Lake. Wish we had our boat - they don't rent boats on this lake you have to provide your own. You can rent kayaks. I am in the midst of taking pictures and will add them later.
Ducks waddle up to our campsite - not a bit afraid.

The town of Grapevine has wineries and the cutest shops - the town has restored it's buildings so makes for fun shopping. They even have a frozen yogart shop - it is the first one since we left home. It's actually very much like Yogartland - it's called Cassie's. They have my favorite flavors - so I was very happy.

Dick is going Bass fishing with a guide on Thursday so he is looking forward to that. He has been to Bass Pro Shop here and picked up his fishing reel (Father's Day Present). Cali and Dick went to the most amazing Sports Complex at Oak Grove Park - he took me there last night and it was truly amazing. The parks in this city are beautiful. Hope my pictures will do the town, park and lakes justice. We are hoping to get in a game of golf here - hoping it will be a better game than I golfed in Arlington on Sunday.

White Lake Rock Park

Then we drove to White Lake Rock Park and had lunch - we stopped a "Big Daddy's" and got Dick and Cali a hamburger while I enjoyed a not healthy lunch of fried dill pickles and sweet potato fries - it was great. It is a big park with bike trials and the lake is good size and there were sail boats on the lake but we didn't see any skiboats. There were beautiful big homes across from the Lake. Then Dick let me go to "SouthFork" not as exciting as I thought it would be but it was good.

Dallas Heritage Village

this was a great find for us - it was uncrowded so we could take Cali on a walk as we explored. They have been moving buildings from cities all over Texas to make this village. It has a doctor offices, school, church, different types of housing, general store, saloon, farm house, bank, printing office, railroad depot. They have tried to put artifacts in each of the buildings.
It is close to the Dallas Farmer's Market which looked lots of fun but we couldn't go as we had Cali with us.

Downtown Dallas

These are the pictures from the depository - sixth window corner right side of the building.

Today we took a drive into Downtown Dallas and went to the Depository. It was very interesting. It make you wonder how they let anyone in any of the buildings along the route the President would take.

Cali and B&G

Here are some pictures of Cali and the house at the office in Dallas
don't know what I was taking a picture of in the first one - sorry but I don't know how to delete it -

Dallas/Fort Worth

We arrived in Arlington about 17 miles from our office in Dallas. Sunday we went to Fort Worth and checked out the Stockyard - it was very interesting and we had alot of fun - we even had fried dill pickles Texas style.
